  1. I might be wrong, but from the test falls I've seen on this video and others, it doesn't seen to do nowhere near enough to prevent most elderly fall injuries to warrant such a cost, no matter how hard people worked on this, which I am kinda sorry for.
    Engadget's test fall, the thing popped open after initial impact… perhaps it'd prevent further injuries, but the damage would already be done. This also would do nothing for broken arms and head injuries, which are a substatial part of injuries.
    And I can understand why this is a hard product to develop… sensors don't seem to detect a fall fast enough for early deployment, and fast deployment demands explosive force which can be pretty bad by itself for elderly people making a fall potentially more dangerous… kinda like the violent airbag deployment.
    In any case, does not sound like a product ready for market. I love the base idea and intention though.

  2. old people don't even like to wear hearing aids. none of them are going to wear a 2 pound belt all day.

    besides, even if this did work, their hip might be saved, but their skull would hit the floor.
